In the age of Keurigs, espresso makers, and smartphone-controlled coffee brewers, a regular coffee maker is a breath of fresh air in the midst of an overly complicated world.
Apart from making an aromatic cup of Joe, there are actually tons of comforting treats you can make with a regular coffee maker. Here are just a few of them you can whip up pretty quickly with your well-loved appliance.
- Grill Cheese Sandwich
Set the burner on warm, or if your coffee maker is an older style, make a cup of coffee and immediately after put the sandwich on the burner. You can also wrap the sandwich in an aluminium foil if you don’t want to get the burner dirty and gross.
- Steam Vegetables
The basket at the top of the coffee maker is a perfect spot for steaming vegetables, such as cauliflower and broccoli. Wash your veggies, throw them on top, set the coffee maker to brew maximum cups as possible, and enjoy your healthy treat.
- Make Hot Chocolate
Fill half of the carafe with heavy cream and throw in some chocolate chips in the brew basket. Brew two cups of water and let it sit. Serve it with marshmallow or drink it alone—either way, it tastes good!
- Cook Ramen
The easiest among the bunch, all you need to do is fill the reservoir with three cups of water, put the noodles in the carafe, and set the coffee maker to brew. Add the seasonings and let it sit for a few minutes to cool a bit.
- Boil Eggs
Fill the reservoir with water, just enough for the eggs to be fully covered, and place two large eggs into the carafe. Brew and let it sit for 10 minutes, and then drench the eggs in cold water to cool.
So, the next time you’re stuck at home or in a hotel and find yourself reaching for the phone to order a $40 pizza that would take an hour or two to arrive, go for the coffee maker and make yourself some of these quick-and-easy-to-make eats instead.
